Our Story

The Walter Wimbush Initiative is dedicated to making a lasting impact in New Jersey by providing scholarships, healthcare services, entrepreneurship training, and mental health awareness to empower young people and underprivileged families. For Walter, this initiative is more than just a program—it's a personal mission to be the change he longed to see in his community, striving to create a safer, more inclusive world for everyone.

In 2012, a heartbreaking tragedy forever altered Walter’s path. The devastating loss of two dear friends to street violence served as a powerful wake-up call, igniting in him a passion to act. Determined to honor their memory, he dedicated himself to fostering positive change, uplifting his community, and providing opportunities for others to rise above their circumstances. The Walter Wimbush Initiative is the embodiment of that promise, working to protect, uplift, and guide his community towards a safer and brighter future.

Walter E. Wimbush, a lifelong Roselle resident born on January 14, 1987, in Elizabeth, NJ, graduated from Abraham Clark High School in 2006. After a year at Berkeley College, financial burdens led him to pursue work. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found L.S. Entertainment, an event hosting business, and a music studio. However, the tragic loss of two friends to street violence in 2012 shifted his focus to community service.

He coached Roselle Pop Warner Football for four years and continues to mentor students at Abraham Clark High School. Walter became deeply involved in mentoring and guiding local youth, founding the Roselle Big Brother Program and serving as its President.

He is an active member of Roselle Acacia Lodge #23 P.H.A, where he became one of the youngest Worshipful Master in 2023. Through his scholarship program, Walter has supported the intellectual and emotional development of Union County youth for ten years. His dedication has earned him numerous awards, including recognition from the Roselle Mayor, the Board of Education, and the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly.
